Following their highly successful production of Tosca last year, Kentish Opera is delighted to present Verdi's distinguished opera Rigoletto at the EM Forster Theatre, Tonbridge School.

This opera features some of Verdi's most brilliant music including the famous tenor aria, La Donna e mobile, and Gilda's aria Caro nome. The opera deals with the escapades of the Duke of Mantua aided by his deformed court jester, Rigoletto. He taunts Monterone, whose daughter was seduced by the Duke, and Monterone calls a curse upon them. Tragically, Rigoletto's daughter is carried off to the Duke to suffer the same fate. Rigoletto plots his revenge but things do not go as planned and the curse comes back to haunt him.

Kentish Opera's dramatic production is conducted by Mark Fitz-Gerald,directed by Sally Langford and designed by Enid Strutt and Carol Stevenson with principals from the major opera houses.
